Summary
Saltwater. Spiny Lobsters. Inhabit shallow waters, occasionally down to
90 m depth, perhaps even deeper. Found among rocks, on reefs, in
eelgrass beds or in any habitat that provides protection.
To be confused with
- Spotted Spiny Lobster Panulirus guttatus
Characteristics
Size: 30 cm, max 60 cm.
Colour: The colour of the carapace is brownish blue to purplish mahogany,
with some lighter areas. On the tail are several lighter bands and
spots.
Shape: Very long, thick antennae.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabit coral reefs. Inhabits shallow waters. Found among rocks, on
reefs, in eelgrass beds or in any habitat that provides protection.The
species is gregarious and migratory.
Distribution range
Bonaire. BES-eilanden.
