Furcate spider crab

Summary
Saltwater. Sponge crabs. Young decorate with algae, sponge, and
occasionally carry Hermit Crab Anemones and tunicates. Large adults, if
decorated at all, only decorate rostrum.

- Spongy Decorator Crab Macrocoeloma trispinosum
Characteristics
Size: 0,75 cm-14 cm.
Colour: Orange brown.
Shape: Long tapering rostrum forked: large spine over eye, four large spines on carpace.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits reefs. Young decorate with algae, sponge, and occasionally
carry Hermit Crab Anemones and tunicates. Large adults, if decorated at
all, only decorate rostrum. Unafraid; ignore divers.
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
