Summary
Saltwater. Spiny Lobsters. This species is found on coral and rocky
reefs at a depth range of 2 - 23 m. It is most commonly found on the
fore reef in crevices and under coral heads.

- Caribbean Spiny Lobster Panulirus argus
Characteristics
Size: 13 to 45 cm
Colour: body, especially abdomen with dark purple with numerous very conspicuous rounded whitish spots. Also legs spotted. Carpus, merus and ischium without streaks. Propodus longitudinally striped.
Shape: Antennular plate with 2 widely separated large spines. Exopod of third maxilliped reduced, without flagellum. No pubescent area on the abdominal somites behind the transverse groove.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabit coral reefs. This is a common species, but is reclusive and often only seen at night.
