Summary
Saltwatershrimps. They form a commensal relationship with another invertebrate, usually a shallow water sea anemone.
To be confused with
- Pederson Cleaner Shrimp Periclimenes pedersoni
Characteristics
Size: 0.6 to 1.8 cm.
Colour: Olive brown colour with symmetrically placed white patches edged with thin blue lines.
Shape: Small shrimp growing to a length of about 13 mm, very short tentacles. It characteristically carries its abdomen curved upwards with its tail fan above its head, hence the name Squat!
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits reefs. Cleaning shrimp; it has a worldwide distribution and is
found in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean
Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, Madeira and the Canary Islands.

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
