Lumpy overgrowing sponge

Summary
A small sponge, usually less than 30 cm across, pink to lavender in
colour. The surface is smooth and at places the darker reddish inside
may shine through it, Its chains of small tubes may run across the
surface of rocks, or may use gorgonians or fire coral skeletons for
support to develop apparently ramose structures.
Characteristics
Size: Medium, Less than 30 cm. acros.
Colour: Light pink to lavender.
Form: Chains of tubes on rocks. Branched when growing on gorgonians or coral sceletons.
Consistency: Compressible, rather soft; slimy.
Habitat environment and ecology
Common in bays and lagoons on mangrove roots and stones. On reefs especially on coral rubble and in the deeper parts.
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: Bonaire.
