Saltwater fish, Drums. Solitary nocturnal preditor that is often seen by day swimming in caves or crevices in the reef.

- Spotted Drum Equetus punctatus
Characteristics
Size: 12 to 23 cm, max 27,5 cm.
Colour: It has a white body with three dark brown bars, one passing through the eye and another one behing the head passing through the pelvic fin and the third one passing from the dorsal fin through the caudal fin in one long stripe! The juvenile is similair to that of the adult, but its dorsal fin is much longer. The juvenile is very similair to the Spotted Drum Juvy.
Shape: Big head compared to the rest of the body and elevated dorsal fin.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits coral reefs. Solitary nocturnal preditor that is seen by day swimming in caves or crevices in the reef. Very rare!

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
