Spotted Goatfish

Summary
Saltwater fish. Goatfishes. Bottomdweller in sandy and grassy areas near
reef scouring for food, by poking its barbels into the sediment. By
night it lies motionless on the bottom. Males are larger and are more
abundant than females.
To be confused with
- Yellow Goatfish Mulloidichthys martinicus
Characteristics
Size: 15 to 30 cm, max 32,5 cm.
Colour: When active it is white with three square blotches on each side, it can pale of darken the blotches at will.
Shape: The snout is long and pointed with two long barbels.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits coral reefs. Bottomdweller in sandy and grassy areas near reef
scouring for food, by poking its barbels into the sediment.
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: St Eustatius.
