Saltwaterfish. Grunts. Yellow to dark copper/bronze stripes. Dusky rear
dorsal, anal and tail fins. Inhabits shallow reefs, by day drifting in
small groups, by night they spread out to adjacent flats to feed.
To be confused with
- French grunt Haemulon flavolineatum.
- Bluestriped grunt Haemulon sciurus.
Characteristics
Size:18 to 30 cm, max 45 cm.
Colour: Silvery white body with yellow-to-bronze stripes, black fins and tail.
Shape: Elongated body.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits coral reefs. Inhabits shallow reefs, by day drifting in small
groups, by night they spread out to adjacent flats to feed.
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
