Summary
Saltwaterfish. Pufferfishes. Prefers shallow waters around the reef,
hiding between sea fans, stinging coral and sea whips. Not difficult to
approach.
To be confused with
- Bandtail Puffer Sphoeroides spengleri
Characteristics
Size: 5 to 10 cm, max 11,5 cm.
Colour: Beige, brown, orange with two black ridges on top and on the bottom, running from the belly to the tail. At night the bright blue spots and lines virtually disappear.
Shape: Moderatly compressed, pointed snout. No scales on the body.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits coral reefs. Prefers shallow waters around the reef, hiding
between sea fans, stinging coral and sea whips. Not difficult to
approach.

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
