Peacock Flounder

Summary
Saltwater fish, Flounders. Bottomdweller on sandy and rubble areas, near
reefs, can hide itsself under the sand. Easy to approach, depends on
its camouflage.
To be confused with
- Channel Flounder Syacium micrurum.
- Eyed Flounder Bothus ocellatus.
Characteristics
Size: 15-45 cm.
Colour: Grey brown body with bright blue rings, matching its colour to that of the the surrounding area.
Shape: flat, bottom dweller, two eyes on one side, with long pectoral fin.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits coral reefs. Bottom-dweller on sandy and rubble areas, near reefs, can hide itsself under the sand.
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
