Summary
Saltwater fish, Body laterally flattened, oval in profile, with a slender, deeply forked tail.
To be confused with
- Sunshinefish Chromis insolata. Very similar, but smaller with dark brown colour, but a white belly.
Characteristics
Size: 7-15 cm, max 20 cm
Colour: Body varies from brownish gray to olive-brown in color. Border of dorsal fin and tips of the tail fin yellow. A prominent black spot at the pectoral-fin base, and a white spot just behind the dorsal fin.
Shape: Body laterally flattened, oval in profile.
Fins etc.: With a slender, deeply forked tail.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits coral reefs. Occurs above steep slopes and patch reefs, between 2 and 40 m.
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
