Summary
Saltwater fish, Lizardfish. They have slender, somewhat cylindrical
bodies, and heads that superficially resemble those of lizards.
To be confused with
- Bluestrisped Lizardfish Synodus saurus
(Smaller and with blue tripes).
Characteristics
Size: 10-35 cm, max 55 cm
Colour: Brownish gray with dark spots. It can pale or darken to match the surroundings.
Shape: Elongated.
Habitat environment and ecology
Tropical and subtropical marine waters throughout the world. Often lies
on the sandy bottum, it can also buries itsself with only the head
sticking out!
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
