To be confused with
- Scrawled filefish Aluterus scriptus
(Covered with blue-green spots, irregular lines and black dots. Elongate body with long, broomlike tail.)
Characteristics
Size: 5 to 8 cm, max 10 cm.
Colour: Yellow brown with brown spots, colour changer!
Shape: Slender body, long head and pointed snout.
Habitat environment and ecology
Inhabits coral reefs. Inhabits shallow reefs, often hiding in the gorgonians.
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius. Curaçao.
